Expectations

RESPECT THE SENSEI
The Sensei has absolute authority over all classes, workshops, and performances.
If you have any questions or comments, direct them to the sensei during a break or after practice.

RESPECT THE TAIKO
Do not play on the taiko unless instructed to do so.
NO hitting of the taiko when people are talking or discussion is going on.
A living tree gave its life to make our taikos. Likewise, a living cow (steer) gave its life to make this skin. We should honor and respect the life, which transmits, through our taiko.

RESPECT ALL MEMBERS
Leave home and personal problems outside of the dojo.
No horseplay or vulgar languages.
Be open-minded and respect each other’s opinions and beliefs.

BE ON TIME TO CLASS
Arrive class on time and ready to practice. Before class, help clear the room and bring in the taikos; after class, help put the taikos away.
If you are late, wait for the teacher to acknowledge you before joining the practice.

DO NOT BE ABSENT FROM CLASS
Do not miss class unless it is absolutely necessary.
Notify the sensei if you are going to miss practice or be late.
More than three unexcused absence will result in dismissal from the group.

MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP FEE
The fee is AS IS regardless of whether you miss any classes.
Payment is due at the beginning of each quarter.

PRACTICE & PERFORMANCE ATTIRE
Practice shirts must be worn to every practice and any event attended as are representative of Kokoro Taiko.
Performance gears (happi, obi, tabi, etc.) are to be purchased by each member.
Class Rules

Do not lean or sit on the taiko

Do not hit with bachi on the sides (barrel) of the taiko

Bachi are always kept as a set

Bow and show respect when entering and leaving the dojo

No hats in the dojo

Remove large jewelries, watches during practice
